Overview

Last summer, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) awarded a planning grant from the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Program to the State of New Mexico Environment Department to support the State in creating two climate action plans (a priority plan and a comprehensive plan) for implementing effective greenhouse gas reduction strategies while ensuring the benefits of these actions are delivered to New Mexicans, especially Low Income or Disadvantaged Communities.

CPRG funding for New Mexico can help our communities with things like training and workforce development opportunities, clean energy development and energy efficiency, clean transit, and much more.

Climate Action Plan Development
The State has a draft list of the projects and programs to be included in the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP). This draft list will evolve as community, Tribal, municipal, and stakeholder feedback is collected. This draft is not a complete list of climate actions the State intends to take or are already taking, but rather a list of priority measures that fit within the CPRG requirements. The main criteria considered when developing this draft list include the emissions reductions potential, associated community benefits, availability of funding outside of the CPRG program, and the readiness for implementation. Additional opportunities will become available for participating in the formation of the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP).

YOUR INPUT IN INVALUABLE

As this plan is being developed, we want to help make sure that they are reflective of our values, culture, and priorities. Which is why we’re asking you to join us at one of our three community events to help shape this critical plan.
